The PRRYA leadership, through its Council of Leaders have come to a consensus to shift the gears of the organization towards one national program with realistic interventions that it can provide at the grassroots – a strategy necessitated by the organization’s limitations as to financial and human resources.
It is proposed to redirect PRRYA’s focus towards contributing to education efforts in the countryside. With the aim to help others help themselves by way of alternative education (agriculture, livelihood, environment, academic tutorials, non-formal classes and the like), the PRRYA envisions that this will provide a more productive venue for its membership to apply acquired learning and to hone their skills.
This proposed national program will further be enhanced through partnerships with specific organizations that cater alternative learning and provide free education (technical and otherwise) that may be needed by both its members and the (adopted) communities identified by the YA chapters from their respective areas.
It is further proposed that the Summer Camp will now be a Summer Institute that will offer [identified] alternative education to the organization’s members, so that in turn they will, in future, be able to teach and transfer these skills to the communities they will adopt. This will also be useful for them if they wish to have a future career in development work.
In this light, the YA Recruitment Process will be enhanced, to ensure quality membership for the organization. PRRYA intends to tie up with organizations that offer development work opportunities and consequently link up its members to possible employment as professional volunteers.
